No picture of the framed Midsummer Night Design - Memorial Sampler. If you remember from an earlier post. I took it to Michael's to be framed. I usually get my stitching framed at Hobby Lobby, but they did not have the modeling for the frame I wanted.
About my visit... Guy at Michael's brought it out.... Unwrapped it.... Turned it around.... and.... I almost lost it!
The worst framing job I have ever seen! He asked, well how is it? I said, it is horrible!
Let me tell you.. It was so wrinkled, and so loose, it was making big bubbles of linen touching the inside of the the glass, that was how loose it was! I showed him how loose it was and that this was unacceptable to me. He said that This Fabric, you can never get to tighten up! I explained to him that I stitch and have this fabric framed a lot and even when it is pinned instead of laced has never looked this bad. It looked like they just laid it on a backing and popped it in the frame! All crooked and the lady said she was going to leave about 1/2 inch from stitching to the inside of the frame. The frame was nearly over some of the stitching.. Just terrible.
I also told him I have framed 2 or 3 of my own stitching and it came out 100% better than this work. I was about to cry.....
He explained he didn't know who did this, but he would work on it and call me tomorrow to pick back up...
I left there so upset! I had to keep saying to myself, Just breath in and breath out.... Calm down April..... I had a feeling that I should have taken it to a frame shop. It is very special to me. I will go back in there tomorrow..
Take another look... I am praying they will do a great job. If not I am prepared to ask for my money back and take my stitched piece back home with me to take to a frame shop. That is why I hate to pay for something before I even see it! The frame is beautiful... but I paid a lot of money and it looked like something a young child tried to frame.. Just a sad day for me! I was all excited to be picking it up and hanging it on my wall. I didn't sleep so much last night because I was so excited.. Now I know I will not sleep good tonight...

Not fun! I do hope they get it right, and if not, tht they give you money back without a hassle!
April,,so sorry...that's horrible. Hope it all turns out for you. Praying that it will.
Oh no...hate to hear that. If all else fails, can you re-frame it yourself? Definitely get some sort of refund...that's not right!
Hugs, and hoping for a better tomorrow!
This is very bad!! I hope all will work out. I know you spent many hours on the project!!
I know how you feel, I used to frame my work at my LNS. Last time I went there I needed a birth record framed for a good friend of mine. When I got it back it got black smears on the fabric and the fabric was also all wobbly. I told them I wasn't happy and I would never come back. The lady at the shop said there were new owners and their previous framer stopped his service. So they're trying a new one. A very bad one obviously. I found a new framer who is specialized in framing and does nothing else. It's the same price as in the shop but the service is 1000 times better... Our stitching work is too precious to get a sh*tty frame...
I hope you get your finished piece back soon and that it looks as it should :)
Oh boo! I had this happen once and it is devastating. I hope they fix it to your satisfaction. Don't you love it when they frame ten things with no problem and then say it is the fabric you choose putting the problem back on you. Where is quality control? Doesn't someone look at the workmanship when it is done? Ok, so now I am venting!! Good luck with them on your next visit.
I feel sick for you!
I never use one of the chain frame shops- they just don't know what they are doing. I'm sorry- I was afraid for you when I read the post you were leaving it there. :(
((Hugs))
What a bad morning. Crossing fingers that they correct the issue and you are happy. But if not, get your money back and take it where it needs to go. Shame on them!
What a shame, I hope they can fix it. I know professional framing is so expensive. Don't let it keep you up all night, not worth it.
hugs,
pam
I had that happen to me at my Michaels. They told me that linen was "stretchy". Now when I get things framed there, I have them cut the foam core and I bring it home to stretch myself. Then I take it back and they assemble it in front of me. Works for me. They may not like it but they will do it if you ask.
Sorry to hear that April. I hope they do a better job for you.

April, I had this problem at Michaels once. They just used double stick tape. They didn't pin or lace. I hope you get a better result today. MartyG
How awful for you, April! I have had the best luck with my Michael's, but I have heard some horror stories about others. I sure hope that they do a better job the second time around.
